News Rover can be used to extract information from Usenet newsgroups. It automates the process of searching for messages, downloading them, decoding file attachments, and reconstructing files that are split across multiple messages. News Rover does all of this automatically in the background, without any user interaction. Simply run this program, when you are ready to read messages and look at the pictures it has collected.News Rover is an application developed by S&H Computer Systems.
It is designed to browse Usenet newgroups and manage subscriptions, messages and downloaded files.
The first thing you will notice about News Rover is the very clean, Mac-like interface that keeps things within your reach. It is easy to add the settings for Subscriptions and Mail service. It even lets you roam through pre-defined newsgroups in order to subscribe to new groups and boards.
Once you have done this, you can retrieve the messages you want from the group and with no need for a lengthy download preview them untill you find one of your interest.
There is also a great feature to search for files in the groups, it does a very good group cross reference which allows more sources and a quicker download. Perhaps the thing that will put off many users is the price tag of $29.95.
The program is very good, but there are programs out there with the same functionality with a less tag price or even for free. The good thing is that you can try it for 30 days, then you will be able to make a decision about the software.
